Procter Cast Stone is now offering free PDF drawing downloads for its range of standard cast stone products . Together these downloads give architects and specifiers an excellent overview of the broad range of standard products available, plus the downloaded drawings enable clients to be shown proposed designs with the minimum of effort. Drawings can either be downloaded individually or in the form of a complete drawing pack.

The standard range of cast stone products includes arches, ashlar, balustrades, bays, bullseyes, cills, columns, coping, corbels, cornice, gable vents, heads, keystones, name/date stones, pier caps, porticos, spheres, steps, string courses, and window and door surrounds. Furthermore, standard products can be customised to suit specific requirements, or bespoke units can be manufactured to architects' drawings.

A page on the Procter Cast Stone website illustrates the standard colours available: Dark Portland; Light Portland; Aire; Natural; Cheshire Red; Millstone Grit; Millstone Light; Yorkstone; and Light Yorkstone. A PDF file showing the colours can be downloaded, or Procter Cast Stone can supply Colour Sample Packs upon request. Note that standard products can also be manufactured in non-standard colours to match virtually any existing natural stone or to meet the needs of a particular colour scheme.

Standard cast stone products can be an extremely cost-effective way to add character and perceived value to a property. Where repetitive work is involved, the cost benefits are even greater. Furthermore, cast stone deliveries tend to be considerably more reliable than deliveries of natural stone, which means that incorporating cast stone in a design will not increase the project risk or jeopardise site schedules.

A further option is to use a combination of predominantly standard units with a small number of bespoke units to mimic features that are, say, characteristic of a geographical region. This approach can be especially useful for infill developments or extensions and alterations to older properties.
